Air New Zealand launches ‘Summer of Safety’ promoting Northland region

Air New Zealand’s latest safety video has launched, taking local talent on a humorous adventure of the Northland region as part of a bigger tourism push.

The Summer of Safety video features Jayden Daniels from TV soap Shortland Street, as he embarks on a Kiwi road trip led by Air New Zealand cabin crew.

As Daniels is taken around the Bay of Islands and Hokianga, the cabin crew offers safety tips such as where to place his bag, how to use oxygen masks and when to remain seated.

The video features some of New Zealand’s best known celebrities, including supermodel Rachel Hunter, Game of Thrones actor Joe Naufahu, stuntwoman Zoe Bell, IndyCar’s Scott Dixon, Olympic bronze medallist,Eliza McCartney and Blossom, the British Bulldog.

While the campaign adds to the list of creative safety videos for the airline, the aim of the Summer of Safety campaign is to drive people to visit the Northland region.

Jodi Williams, general manager of global brand and content marketing, hopes the video will attract people to the Bay of Islands and Northland region.

“Our safety videos have an impressive global following, collectively attracting more than 100 million views and gaining significant international media exposure,” Williams said.

“This latest edition is a great opportunity to not only deliver a safety message, but also to showcase the very best of the North to help drive economic benefit for the region.”

David Wilson, CEO of Northland Inc., was confident the latest TVC was increase visitation to the area.

“Placing Bay of Islands and the wider Northland region on a global stage, we expect the video to be a hugely influential marketing tool, with far-reaching benefit for local communities and businesses,” Wilson said.
