AKQA appoints Alex Houghton as strategy director, Tim Baggott as associate creative director

AKQA Sydney has hired Soap Creative’s strategy director, Alex Houghton, as strategy director with Tim Baggott being appointed as associate creative director, the company has announced.

Baggott, who joins AKQA Sydney from the company’s London office, will take a newly created role for the agency while Houghton is set to replace ​Saul Flores as strategy director.

Houghton joins AKQA from Soap Creative

Flores is returning to the US for family reasons after more than two years in the role. He is set to join BCG Digital Ventures in LA.

Houghton was the strategy director at Soap Creative for five years working on brands including Toyota, Xbox, ING Direct, Weet-Bix and V Energy.

Prior to his time at Soap Creative, Houghton was a communications strategy director at OMD Sydney for five years.

Baggott joins the Sydney creative shop from AKQA’s London office where he was the associate creative director for almost three years.

Baggot joins the agency from AKQA London

During his time at AKQA London, Baggott worked on campaign concepts for Volvo Cars Global, Volvo Cars US, Volvo Trucks, Booking.com, Foster + Partners, Rocket Entertainment (Elton John) and Activision.

In other appointments for the agency, AKQA Melbourne has hired Ros Horner as a design director.

Horner joins AKQA Melbourne from his previous stint as the design lead at London agency Wunderman.

Managing director of AKQA Asia Pacific, Brian Vella, said in a statement: “We’ve have had another really big year and bringing on three new directors, all of whom have extensive international backgrounds and skillsets, will see us create even more cutting edge brand and customer experience work for our clients.”
