Alex Proyas looks to mythical Egypt for next project

Alex Proyas is looking to reunite with Summit Entertainment for a new production set in mythical, ancient Egypt.

The director is in talks with the production company once again after they teamed up for 2009’s Knowing, with Nicholas Cage.

The project, Gods of Egypt will be produced by Proyas’ Mystery Clock Cinema and Thunder Road Productions and producer Basil Iwanyk.

Basil Iwanyk produced The Town, Wrath of the Titans and The Expendables as well as its impending sequel.

According to Variety, Proyas will write the script alongside Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless.

Proyas is currently in pre-production for the adaptation of sci-fi novel The Unpleasant Profession of Jonathan Hoag.

In February, Proyas’s adaptation of Paradise Lost failed to move into production, due to shoot in Sydney, because of an escalating budget.

Proyas will also be a contributing director to John Polson’s Sydney Unplugged project.
