Allianz Australia marketing boss Nicholas Adams departs

Allianz Australia has parted ways with chief market manager Nicholas Adams, after he spent just over three years as a member of the insurer’s senior leadership team.

Adams revealed the news on LinkedIn, with a spokesperson for Allianz confirming to Mumbrella that Adams left his role at the end of 2020 when Allianz Australia introduced a new operating model.

The spokesperson said that Allianz Australia’s new consumer division will now contain the brand and marketing function, which Adams previously headed up.

“We confirm that Nick Adams left his role as chief market manager at Allianz Australia at the end of 2020,” the spokesperson said.

“Nick’s departure follows the introduction of a new operating model across Allianz, and the creation of a new consumer division, which will contain our brand and marketing function.

Adams will not be replaced, but Allianz confirmed that Mick Winter will head up the new division as chief general manager, consumer.

“Mick has been with Allianz for over 20 years, and has rich company and industry knowledge. He has held several roles at Allianz, and most recently led the Retail Distribution Division for the last six years,” the spokesperson added.

“On behalf of Allianz Australia, we wish to offer our sincere thanks to Nick for the past three years, in which he successfully managed the transition to a digital and customer-focused marketing division, and wish him every success in the future.”

Nicholas Adams has left the insurer

Before joining Allianz in 2017 to lead its marketing efforts, Adams also spent six years at Telstra in roles including director of CRM digital and loyalty marketing, director marketing enablement and executive director.

Prior to that, he served as the chief marketing officer for Westpac, and also spend time in senior roles at American Express, Citibank.

Announcing his departure, Adams thanked Allianz for the support the company gave him.

“Being part of Allianz’s success and seeing the company continue to grow into a key market leader in the insurance industry is something I feel very proud to have been a part of,” he said.

“During this time, I have had the opportunity to help drive a multi-year uplift of the marketing organisation across both talent and skills.

“Working with great people has been an absolute highlight. I would very much like to thank my exceptional leadership team, and broader Market Management team.

“It has been an honour to lead such a talented group of people on an incredible transformation journey.”

Adams wouldn’t be drawn on his next move, only saying that he would be looking for “a new challenge”.
