Animal Kingdom release brought forward
Madman has decided that David Michod’s acclaimed debut feature will now open in approximately 60 screens across Australia on April 29, alongside releases such as Iron Man 2.
The original date of May 6 would have seen the film clash with another Australian release, the comedy I Love You Too, directed by Daina Reid and released by Roadshow. Another competitor would have been Sony’s heist film Takers, starring Matt Dillon and Paul Walker.
Animal Kingdom will now be released the same week as the Australian thriller Triangle (Icon), Paramount’s Iron Man 2, Sony’s Extraordinary Measures (starring Harrison Ford) and Hopsctoch’s The Concert.
A spokesperson for Madman told Encore that the film has “a completely different audience” to Iron Man 2 and therefore, the distributor does not foresee a problem with the release date.
A completely different audience? So me and everyone I know are an anomaly in the calculation?

apparently most people can’t process more than one movie a week!
I’ve always been an anomaly, because I’m equally interested in the Iron Mans of the world as I am in the Animal Kingdoms, or Bright Stars, etc.
