APN’s Warren Lee resigns after five years

Warren Lee has brought an end to a five-year stint at APN News and Media, where he was group director of content, strategy and integration in his last role. He leaves at the end of March.

A replacement has yet to be named for Lee, who has led the company’s digital integration efforts since he joined.

“Previously, APN had an off and on relationship with the internet. But we have taken a very determined approach in recent years. And it has paid off, particularly through joint ventures,” he said.

Among his key accomplishments, he lists a “genuinely worldclass” iPad application for New Zealand Herald and the launch of GrabOne, a group buying site.

He also oversaw an online classified ads venture with Fairfax, the acquisition and then sale of finda.com, and the development of classifieds and auction site, Sella.

Prior to his current role, Lee ran APN Online and set up the company’s online division in Australia and New Zealand.

Lee is taking a break from the industry. “My only plan is to not have a plan,” he said.
