ARIA has a new award for Aussie music artists
The Australian Recording Industry Association has announced a new award dedicated to “recognising homegrown success” – the Australian Chart #1 Awards.

The Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) is excited to announce a new award recognising homegrown success, with the Australian Chart #1 Awards launching this Friday, 2 August.
In addition to the regular award given for achieving a #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart or Singles Chart, two new weekly Aussie #1 Awards will celebrate the local artists climbing to the top of the ARIA Australian Albums and Singles Chart.
ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “The local music landscape is jam packed with amazing artists and incredible work: breaking through the noise to achieve a #1 is arguably a bigger accomplishment then ever before.
“The Australian Charts are showcasing outstanding examples of local success week-in, week-out,, and we hope the addition of the Aussie Chart #1 Awards will celebrate what is a truly outstanding achievement and recognise the importance of our local charts.”
The first ARIA Australian #1 Awards will be available to artists who top the Australian Albums Chart and Australian Singles Chart from Friday, 2 August.
