ARN appoints Rich Howells as national digital commercial director

Australian Radio Network (ARN) has announced Amobee’s group operations director for APAC, Rich Howells, will take on the role of national digital commercial director from next week.

Howells’ appointment is part of ARN’s wider commercial restructure, which comes in the wake of the departure of CEO Rob Atkinson, and Conversant Media being folded into the company.

Howells has 14 years’ experience in digital marketing

The parent company of ARN, HT&E (formerly APN News and Media), has been focusing on “streamlining the organisational structure between the corporate and ARN divisions”, chairman Hamish McLennan said last year.

As part of the restructure, Melbourne sales director Nick Flood was promoted to national sales director last month, while Anthony Bartram came across from Ooh Media to take on the new role of national trading director.

In addition, Lauren Joyce took on the role of national strategy director, and Sam Harris came from agency side to fill the void left by Flood in Melbourne.

Now, Howells has been added to the line-up, and will be charged with “the further development of ARN’s multi-platform commercial strategy across digital assets including all station sites, The Roar, and iHeartRadio”, ARN said in a statement.

ARN’s chief commercial officer, Pete Whitehead, said: “We welcome Rich to ARN as part of our recent restructure of the national commercial leadership team. Rich’s appointment is a key part of ARN’s commercial strategy to continue to drive growth and leverage our digital assets nationally.”

ARN has been asked for more details around the restructure, including if it entails any redundancies or redeployments.
