The announcement:

ARN and Sydney’s KIIS 1065 have launched a new internship program in partnership with AFTRS that will give selected top-performing students hands-on experience working alongside some of the best in the radio industry.

AFTRS provides an in-depth and highly practical course, designed to prepare Australia’s next generation of radio content makers.

Students will experience radio practice in a real world context and have the opportunity to work across a number of areas during their internship including producing, digital content and panelling to help prepare them for paid roles within the industry.

Of the new internship program KIIS Head of Content Sydney and Melbourne Derek Bargwanna said: “We already have some great AFTRS graduates working at KIIS so it was a no-brainer to partner with AFTRS on this internship program, they produce some of the most passionate and skilled students I have ever seen. Not only is this a fun opportunity for both the students and the KIIS team, it’s an important investment in the future of the industry by ensuring the next generation of radio content makers are learning from the best in the business from day one.”

AFTRS Head of Radio Fyona Smith said: “It is a great opportunity for our students to learn and experience first-hand the fast pace of metro radio from some of the best in industry.”
