ARN’s iHeart announces multi-year partnership with 7NEWS

ARN has announced today that its podcast publisher, iHeart, will become the exclusive sales representative for 7NEWS’ podcasts.

Starting this week, the multi-year partnership will see 7NEWS podcasts including 7NEWS Headlines, Sunrise, Shot in the Dark and The Lady Vanishes join iHeart’s local news and public affairs lineup.

“We are absolutely delighted to join forces with 7NEWS. This partnership perfectly aligns with our mission to deliver the best, most diverse content to listeners and brands alike,” ARN’s head of digital audio, Corey Layton, said.

“Together with 7NEWS, we aim to set new benchmarks in news and public affairs podcasting.”

Seven’s Network director of news and public affairs, Craig McPherson, added: “We’re excited to be entering into this revenue share agreement with iHeart, who we see as the most successful and innovative player in the space.

“We’re proud that the trust viewers place in us to keep them informed with reliable and honest reporting extends across our digital platforms, including our podcast slate. We look forward to producing more high-quality, engaging content as we expand our offering in line with this new partnership.”

The news comes after ARN’s proposal to takeover rival radio competitor SCA this month, which would see the network , create a “focused” metro radio network of 10 stations across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth with each city featuring a KIIS and Triple M brand.

ARN also confirmed in its proposal that it intends to “form an independently managed, separate and equally owned digital audio joint venture, comprised of substantially all of ARN and SCA’s respective existing digital audio assets and operations”.

At an annual general meeting last week, SCA chair Rob Murray confirmed that the network is now in discussions about the bid.
