Aussie chip looks for bigger fish to fry in British Council ad

Big Ben, Banksy, Tate Modern, St Paul’s Cathedral and Damien Hirst play second fiddle to the chip as symbols of Britain in a new ad for British Council, the latest incarnation of the ‘Realise Your Dream’ campaign, which aims to give Australian creatives a career head-start in the UK.

An Aussie chip character, who longs for bigger fish to fry, is the central creative vehicle in the first British Council campaign created by Boccalatte, which won the business without a pitch last month.

The call-to-entry film for the Realise Your Dream award launches today online, and as a TVC in the coming weeks. It was produced in collaboration with local animation and illustration duo, Doug Bayne and Trudy Cooper.

A radio component will run in support, recorded as promos by the Triple J network, the award’s media partner. The first goes live today.

The campaign also has a social media component, with a Twitter and Facebook campaign aimed at driving traffic to the Realise Your Dream website.

“It was a little daunting developing a campaign designed to speak to such a creatively switched on audience, but we feel the messages are relevant to people of our own kind and I think that depth of understanding comes across in this work,” said Suzanne Boccalatte, Creative Director and founder of Boccalatte.
