Aussie rock legends tackle Taylor Swift tunes for Triple M

Let’s face it, the only way that Australia’s most-rockingest rockin’ rock station Triple M could legitimately playlist a Taylor Swift song is if The Screaming Jets were to crank one out of their amps full volume in a sweaty Sydney studio.

Luckily for Triple M listeners missing the Swift, that’s exactly what’s happened – with the likes of Paul Kelly, Ian Moss, The Screaming Jets, Sarah McLeod, Diesel, Joe Camilleri, Birds of Tokyo, and British India all trying their hands at a Taylor Swift cover, ahead of her arrival in Australia.

“Taking on the challenge of covering Taylor Swift’s banger We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together and fusing it with the sound of The Screaming Jets was a blast,” said the band’s frontman Dave Gleeson.

“Reimagining this song for Triple M was an unexpected start to 2024, but the outcome is something that our Triple M listeners can 100% get on board with.”

Paul Kelly’s version of Anti-Hero was played on the Triple M Breakfast show today, with a new cover to be played each day until February 14.

“The Triple M Versions are an outstanding collaboration of some of Australia’s best rock artists with some of the world’s most popular songs, resulting in something completely unique to Triple M and Australia,” explains head of Triple M metro content, Matthew OReilly.

“We are pumped to present these never-before-heard covers and join the celebrations of the Australian leg of Taylor Swift’s iconic tour.”
