Aussie Rules film Blinder kicks off in Victoria

New Australian film Blinder has begun its ten week shoot in Victoria before moving to Boston, USA with the announcement of a new cast member.

Blinder, the story of a ex-Aussie Rules player who fled Australia after a scandal kicked off yesterday in Torquay.

Josh Helman (Animal Kingdom, The Pacific) has been added to the film, written and directed by Richard Gray (Summer Coda and the upcoming Mine Games).

Helman joins the cast line up that includes Oliver Ackland, Rose McIver, Steve Bisley, Anna Hutchinson, Zoe Carides and Angus Sampson.

The film which is privately funded is produced co-writers Scott Didier and Michele Gray as well as former AFL players Glenn Archer, Adrian Gleeson and Sam Kekovich, Virginia Kay, Bryce Menzies, Chris Lemole and Mike Gillespie.

Synopsis: Having fled Australia on the back of a football scandal that ended his career before it started, Tom (Ackland) returns home to clear his name and reignite an old flame. While celebrating the life of his recently departed coach, he begins to see the past with new eyes — but revelations regarding the shameful aftermath of his team’s grand final once again threaten to turn Tom’s life upside down.
