Australia is world’s 6th most awarded ad market

Despite a disappointing performance at Cannes last year, Australia secured a best-ever ranking in The Gunn Report 2011, a tally of the world’s major advertising awards shows.

Australia came 6th – behind Germany, Argentina, Brazil, the UK and the US, the most awarded country.

The Sydney and Melbourne offices of Leo Burnett – neither of which fared well in last year’s Mumbrella Creative Agency Review survey – emerged as Australia’s most awarded agency group.

Leo Burnett Australia ranked 7th in the table of the world’s most awarded agencies, the highest ever placing for an Australian agency in the Gunn Report. Also joint 7th was the New York office of Droga5.

Leo Burnett Sydney’s ‘Monkey’ for WWF and the Melbourne office’s ‘See the person’ for Scope ranked 7th and 21st, respectively, in a list of the most awarded commercials of 2011.

Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam was the most awarded agency in the world. The agency was behind the most awarded commercial of 2011, ‘Write the future’ for Nike.

BBDO was the world’s most awarded network in the world, followed by Omnicom sibling DDB , WPP’s Ogilvy, Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett and indie Wieden + Kennedy.
