The 2013 ADG National Conference has confirmed US-based Australian director Ben Lewin and Gillian Armstrong, one of Australia’s most experience directors of film, television and documentary, will be speaking at the “Directing in the Digital Age” themed conference.

The announcement:

US-based Australian director Ben Lewin, director of the highly acclaimed recent film The Sessions, and Gillian Armstrong, one of Australia’s most experienced directors of film, television and documentary, are confirmed speakers at the 2013 ADG National Conference.

The Conference with the theme “Directing in the Digital Age” will be held in Sydney from November 6 to 8. An opening night function on November 6 will be followed by two full days of conference sessions.

Running parallel with the conference will be a new two-day workshop for emerging directors specifically on working with and directing actors.

With over 700 members Australia-wide, the Australian Directors Guild (ADG) is the national industry organization representing the interests of film and television directors, documentary filmmakers, animators and independent producers.

“The ADG National Conference is a high level event aimed at directors working across all sectors, as well as producers, screenwriters, representatives from government agencies, film and television students and other industry professionals. As one of the Guild’s premier membership events, the conference objectives are to promote a strong and professional membership, to advance learning and knowledge amongst members and industry professionals, and to offer attendees networking opportunities in a relaxed and social environment. We anticipate that around 250-300 delegates from across Australia will attend,” said ADG Executive Director Kingston Anderson.

More special guests, panellists and conference sessions will be announced over the coming weeks.
