The announcement:

Australia’s most iconic magazine, The Australian Women’s Weekly together with Qantas, is pleased to announce the 2017 shortlist for the fifth (5th) annual Women of the Future Scholarship and Awards. Hailing from all areas of Australia, this year’s shortlist of nominees are nothing short of incredible, striving to instil positive change through their inspiring causes.

Judged by some of Australia’s most recognised women including The Foreign Minister The Hon. Julie Bishop, Ita Buttrose AO OBE, Lucy Turnbull AO, Lisa Wilkinson AM, Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Qantas’ Olivia Wirth and The Australian Women’s Weekly editor-in-chief Nicole Byers, the scholarship program, which awards and celebrates young female talent and entrepreneurship, has unearthed some of Australia’s most spirited and dynamic young women, passionate about developments in science, medicine, body image, education, health and the arts.

The awards patron is The Hon Dame Quentin Bryce.

The major prize, The Judges Choice Award, grants the winner $25,000 to put towards the development and growth of their cause, complemented by a Qantas Travel Bursary to the value of $25,000.

“The multitude of young women who applied for this years’ scholarship made it incredibly challenging to narrow the Judges selection down to just 10 finalists,” says The Australian Women’s Weekly Editor-In-Chief, Nicole Byers.

“All of these women will undoubtedly be part of building our nation’s future and it was truly humbling to read their applications and get an insight into the formidable input they are giving to ours and others communities both here and overseas”.

Adding to the suite of prizes are the People’s Choice Award and the Judges Special Mention Award, each granting the winner $12,500 to put towards their cause, as well as $12,500 Qantas Travel Bursary.

Beginning today, all Australians are encouraged to vote for the finalist they feel most deserves the People’s Choice Award through nowtolove.com.au/WOTF.
