Barry Keohane comes on board as content director for ARN in Adelaide

Australian Radio Network’s stations in Adelaide, Mix 102.3 and Cruise 1323, have a new content director.

Barry Keohane, most recently content director at ABC in Adelaide, commences his new role on 10 July.

Keohane is returning to ARN in July

Keohane has also been a music director and assistant content director at Southern Cross Austereo, and worked for ARN in Canberra as a program director for Mix 106.3 between 2007 and 2009.

ARN’s national content director Duncan Campbell said of the appointment: “Barry brings with him a wealth of knowledge and skills to this role which will enhance and complement the experience that already exists within the content team in Adelaide. I welcome Barry to ARN and I look forward to working with him as we continue to build on the success in Adelaide across Mix 102.3 and Cruise 1323.”

Last year, ARN’s Sue Carter vacated the Adelaide-based role to become Melbourne’s Gold FM content director. Tony Aldridge then came on board to fill the void in Adelaide, however he then also moved to the Melbourne team to become content director for Kiis 101.1.

ARN’s parent company, HT&E (Here, There and Everywhere) has in recent months been attempting to simplify ARN’s structure.

ARN’s CEO Rob Atkinson announced his departure at the tail end of 2018, with HT&E’s CEO Ciaran Davis taking on the additional responsibilities.

He said at the time, the focus was on the group’s current assets and creating efficiencies.

“We’ll focus on radio, on ARN, and the simplification of that structure over the coming months,” he said.

“Radio is proving itself to be a very resilient business, very robust. We have a very strong network built up over the last number of years,” he said.

“We’ll continue to drive ratings growth and position the business as the future of audio entertainment.”

In the most recent radio ratings survey, Mix 102.3 had a market-leading 12.2% share of the Adelaide radio market, although this was down 1.7 percentage points on the previous survey. Cruise 1323 was down 0.3 percentage points to 8.8%.
