Bauer Media’s Jenna Clarke joins BuzzFeed as head of BuzzFeed originals

Bauer Media’s digital managing editor for Elle, Harper’s Bazaar and Cosmopolitan Australia, Jenna Clarke, will join BuzzFeed Australia as head of BuzzFeed originals.

Clarke has spent the last year with Bauer Media, and prior to that worked as life and style editor at Fairfax Media for four years. She was recently promoted to managing editor of the Bauer digital luxury portfolio as part of a major restructure of its digital arm.

Clarke first joined Bauer Media as features director at Elle last year

Her new role, head of BuzzFeed originals, will replace the head of buzz position, which was held by Dean Nye.

In her new position, Clarke will oversee entertainment, lifestyle content and editorial strategy for BuzzFeed. She will report directly into BuzzFeed Australia’s general manager and editor-in-chief, Simon Crerar, who said he was thrilled to have Clarke join the team.

“She brings such a wealth of knowledge across print, TV, radio and digital publishing, and deep experience gained from so many Australian entertainment and lifestyle brands. Jenna’s the ideal person to take BuzzFeed’s entertainment content to the next level here in Australia,” Crerar said.

Clarke will join BuzzFeed on June 25.

Her appointment is the first following a number of departures. This month, BuzzFeed’s commercial boss, David Nemes, left the business, as well as senior reporter Paul Farrell and BuzzFeed News producer, Nick Wray. Last month senior writer Tahlia Pritchard, revealed she would join Punkee as editor.
