BBC Studios taps CNN for new local VP
BBC Studios has appointed a prolific media leader as its new Australia and New Zealand executive vice president and general manager of global media and streaming.
Boasting more than 25 years of advertising sales, commercial strategy, distribution and marketing expertise, Robi Stanton will join the company from her current position of commercial director – content sales and strategic partnerships at CNN International – a role she has held for the last year.
Before working at CNN, Stanton served as ANZ vice president, head of franchise development and affiliate relations at Warner Bros Discovery from June 2022 to March 2023. Prior to Warner Bros, she spent more than a decade at news, entertainment and sports giant, Turner.
“I have always been impressed by BBC Studios’ incredible suite of content, services and brands, as well as its ability to constantly innovate across its partnerships,” Stanton said of her appointment.

“I am looking forward to being part of its future, helping to fuel the continued growth of the company and its partners in the local industry, and working with the talented teams at BBC Studios.”
In her new job, Stanton will collaborate with BBC Studios’ EVP and general manager for global entertainment ANZ, Kylie Washington, to provide “innovative pan-business growth solutions to partners in the region”. She’ll also be tasked with overseeing the company’s advertising and content sales, streaming and channels initiatives in the ANZ region.
Stanton will report to BBC Studios’ president of global markets, Nick Percy, who praises Stanton’s “exemplary track record of innovating and driving growth across digital, content and brands, which she has achieved through a visionary approach and smart strategic partnerships.
“We have ambitious plans for our world-leading content, channels, digital platforms and streaming services and I’m delighted that Robi will be leading the way for BBC Studios in ANZ in this fast-moving and constantly evolving industry.”
Stanton’s stint at BBC Studios will begin on March 26.
