Nova axes Ben, Liam & Belle show, re-signs Jodie & Haysey for Adelaide breakfast

The season for big programming changes in radio has kicked off, with Nova telling staff its late drive show, Ben, Liam & Belle, won’t continue next year.

Mumbrella can also confirm that Nova Adelaide has re-signed its breakfast duo Jodie Oddy and Andrew ‘Haysey’ Hayes to continue the Jodie & Haysey show in a multi-year deal.

Nova Entertainment’s group programming director Brendan Taylor sent out an all-staff email at 4pm on Wednesday. In the note, seen by Mumbrella on Wednesday afternoon, Taylor said Late Drive with Ben, Liam & Belle will finish on Friday, 12 December. The final show, he said, would be a celebration of the trio’s time with the network.

“Ben, Liam and Belle are a hugely talented team who have delivered excellent results for Nova and developed a unique connection to their audience,” he said. “They have consistently given their all and I would like to thank them for being such valued members of the Nova family.”

He also detailed the show’s history, which included joining Adelaide’s Nova 919 to helm its breakfast show in 2020, before moving to Melbourne in December 2022 to lead Nova 100’s breakfast output.

When Jase Hawkins and Lauren Phillips took over Nova 100 breakfast in the wake of their own dumping from Kiis to make way for the Kyle & Jackie O Show, Ben, Liam & Belle moved to a new timeslot of “Late Drive”. Late Drive ran nationally from 6pm to 8pm on weekdays, following the regular drive show Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel.

Ben, Liam & Belle’s previous breakfast slot in Adelaide is unavailable, because of the Jodie & Haysey multi-year deal.

The Jodie & Hayesy show launched in January 2023, featuring former Mix 102.3 breakfast co-host Oddy, and former footballer and media personality Hayes.
