BIGSOUND announces another wave of conference speakers

BIGSOUND has announced 25 new conference speakers and buyers for its September event, including a Billboard editor and the booker for Europe’s Download Festival.

Joining the lineup of speakers at Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from 3-6 September is Lutz Leichsenring from VibeLab, Billboard deputy editor Lyndsey Havens, Josh Simons, CEO of Vinyl Group, Mark Davyd from Music Venue Trust, and Kamran Haq, Live Nation’s senior booker for Download Festival.

This year’s conference is focused on the “ongoing disruptions within the music industry”.

The first announcement of Conference panels includes ‘Aged Out: What Does Australian Music Mean To You(th)?, which will explore how young people discover and engage with music in an increasingly digital world; ‘Night Fever: Creative Capitals Make Creative Capital’, wherein one of the “100 most important minds of Berlin’s economy”, Lutz Leichsenring, will offer valuable perspectives on creating sustainable music ecosystems; and the question on everybody’s lips.

There’s also ‘Who Gives a F*ck About Australian Music?’, which will critically examine the growing positive global perception of Australian music while also exploring the veracity of our own local engagement.

This speakers join Amy Taylor from Amyl and the Sniffers, and US artist Kelis — both of whom will be presenting keynotes — as well as London-based creative force Elijah, co-founder of the trailblazing record label, Butterz, A&R extraordinaire Korda Marshall, Elliott Lefko from AEG/Goldenvoice USA / Coachella. and a long list of other impressive industry names.

Alongside these panelists and conferences, BIGSOUND has also announced another round of upcoming artists set to showcases their wares in Brisbane this September, including Miiesha, alayna, Dear Sunday, tiffi, Armlock, and Bean Magazine.

This year BIGSOUND offers $25 one-night Music Festival tickets for music lovers under 25 years of age, and $75 three-night Music Festival tickets for those who buy before July 31.
