Binge CMO Louise Crompton joins Paramount+

Mumbrella understands that Binge CMO Louise Crompton has left the company to join soon to launch Paramount+ as vice president, marketing and growth.

Crompton announced via her LinkedIn page that she had left Streamotion, of which Binge is part of with Kayo, after two years in the business. Streamotion is part of Foxtel Group.

Before joining Streamotion at the inception of Binge, Crompton spent almost nine-years at Expedia, where she held positions including ANZ director of marketing.

Compton leaving the business follows a number of high-profile departures in and around the marketing department of Foxtel Group over the previous months. Sporting streaming platform Kayo saw the departure of head of brand and marketing Joel Moran and executive director Ant Hearne in October. They were closely followed by Jamie Campbell, David Roddick and Jo Clasby of Foxtel Media. Foxtel Group shed another 270 roles early last year.

Paramount+ has begun preparation for a planned August launch. This week parent company ViacomCBS announced a five-year deal with the Australian Professional Leagues (APL) to broadcast the A-League and W-League across its free-to-air channels and also new streaming service Paramount+.

The APL deal marks a market first, with some A-League games to be broadcast on free-to-air TV live as well as on Paramount+.

Mumbrella reported in March that Paramount+ had begun building its local team, with Chris Ledlin appointed senior director of streaming and Angela Heckman appointed as senior vice president of revenue and operations.

Paramount+ will replace Ten All Access. The service will launch with a $8.99 per month subscription fee, although a seven-day free trial period will also be available to new users.
