Black Hawk launches website to warn dog owners about their pet’s health

Masterpet’s dog food range, Black Hawk, has created a website for pet owners to be better informed about their dog’s health.

Created by The Works, DogCheck compares a dog’s body weight with what’s typical for its breed to help owners be better informed about their pet’s health and combat obesity in pets.

DogCheck asks owners to submit their dogs breed, weight, name, gender and age to transform the data into a human so pet owners can view their pets as they would themselves.

The campaign was based on data suggesting over 41% of Australian dogs are either overweight or obese.

Damian Pincus, creative partner at The Works, said in a statement: “We’ve all probably seen dog’s that are carrying a few too many kilos, but when we see how a dog would look in human form it offers a useful frame of reference to pet owners unsure if their dog is a healthy size. This is a tool that provides long term utility for owners to ensure their pet is as healthy as can possibly be.”

Aaron Chillingworth, national marketing manager at Masterpet, added: “Black Hawk passionately stands behind the Real Food Movement. The evolution of this movement is DogCheck, where we are looking to shine a light on a growing issue in pet health in Australia. DogCheck is about showing passionate pet parents that pet health is more than just feeding great food. It is also about portion control and getting moving in order for your dog to live happy, healthy, longer lives.”
