Creative agency BMF has appointed Carlos Furnari as creative director for its Melbourne office.

Furnari joins the agency having recently returned from 15 years abroad, working in both London and Berlin. He spent the majority of his time away in Amsterdam working for Wieden & Kennedy, where he started his career as a copywriter in 2001.

He has also spent time working in Wieden’s Portland office and with other Amsterdam agencies including 180 Amsterdam, 72 and Sunny, and Anomaly.

Recently he has worked directly with Nike Europe on developing campaigns.

Furnari has worked on accounts including Coca-Cola, Heineken, Nike, Adidas, Converse, Diageo and Samsung.

BMF CEO Dominic Stinton staid in a statement: “Carlos is a fantastic creative director with both European and local experience, and he possesses a winning combination of big idea thinking and great attention to detail.

“I’m confident that Carlos will be making more than just communication campaigns for our clients in 2014, as he refused to be pigeon-holed by an medium or channel.”

His work for Nike Europe has won the Runner’s World Magazine (Europe) Advertising Campaign of the Year and was selected for display in the permanent collection of the Louvre’s Musée de la Publicité, Paris. In addition, he has been a jury member for the European AdPrint Festival in Brasov, Romania.
