Bob Goodge exits Starcom after 13 years of service

The boss of Starcom MediaVest Sydney, Bob Goodge, is leaving the agency after 13 years with the agency.

Starcom will now be run by agency director Sue Kallas, with support from COO of Starcom Australia Chris Nolan and CEO John Sintras.

Sintras said in a statement: “Bob has been with us since Starcom launched, so there has never been a Starcom without Bob! It is difficult to imagine the place without him. Over his time with the company, he has been a key member of the management team in various roles and a major factor in our ongoing success. Personally, I want to thank Bob for his loyalty and support – he has always been one of our most reliable and passionate advocates and I hope he will always remember his time at Starcom with fondness and a smile.”

Goodge said: “I am so proud to have been the head of the Sydney office at a time when we have seen our biggest new business success in years – thanks to the Optus/VMA win, and when we have just been named the Global Agency of the Year at the Festival of Media awards. So, it seems quite appropriate to announce that after 13 very happy years at Starcom, I’ve decided that my job here is done and now is the perfect time for me to move on.”

He added: “I’ve had a great time, working with people whom I regard as the best in the business and with a client list that has been and is second to none. But now, I want to do what’s right for me – and that is to start afresh and challenge myself with new opportunities. As I often say, this is the very best time to be in our business, and I can’t wait to start a new chapter in my career.”

The news comes one month after Starcom won the Optus media pitch, but the agency suffered a blow when General Motors globally realigned its media account out of Starcom into Aegis in January.
