Bondi Hipsters front new campaign for US city Portland

Travel Portland has launched a new destination marketing campaign featuring the Bondi Hipsters Christiaan Van Vuuren and Nick Boshier.

Launching the campaign a music video episode opens with Van Vuuren stating he has done everything there is to do in Bondi and chronicles the pair brewing their own craft beer, starting their own restaurant and selling vintage ethical toasters.

The chorus of the song says “Heading to Portland to be a creator, maker, originator … designer, founder, generator.”

Vice president of marketing at Travel Portland, Ajay Date, said in a statement: “We want to tell our story in a way that really stands out for potential travellers. The Bondi Hipsters are the perfect partners to get the message across in an entertaining way.

“We hope travellers will come away with a better understanding of Portland without the hard sell that often comes along with travel marketing.

“We know that the culture of a city and its people influence their travel choices, so we wanted to really bring that to the forefront.”

The social campaign created by Go Collaborate is an eight video series which will follow Van Vuuren and Boshier on their journey to Portland. Throughout the eight episodes the Bondi Hipsters will show viewers what is cool in Portland and what the locals are really like.

The content series was directed by Bruce Walters, the creator of Avalon Now.
