Bonds introduces first non-Australian ambassador: Elvis’ granddaughter
Bonds has chosen its first non-Australian ambassador, American actress, model and granddaughter of Elvis Presley Riley Keogh to launch its latest collection.
The American who has modelled for Dolce and Gabbana, Victoria’s Secret, and who featured on the US cover of Vogue with her grandmother Priscilla, is now promoting Bonds hipster lacies range as Bonds’ Summer 2013 ambassador.
Although the choice of a non-Australian model has attracted some criticism on Bonds’ Facebook page, Tanya Deans, general manager of marketing for Pacific Brands underwear group, said choosing the model was a strategic move.
“As Bonds starts to expand its international footprint, we wanted Riley’s international profile to bring some of Bonds’ joy to new users around the world,” she told Mumbrella.
“There is a strong international trend at the moment for lace and this signalled a new opportunity for Bonds to bring more femininity into its range. We felt Riley was the perfect fit for this.”

Advertisers and Agencies alike… please do all of us a favor and if you’re brand is Aussie Made or predominantly Australian based… even if going for an international market, support local Australian talent?

I’m with their Facebook followers. An Aussie brand of Bond’s calibre should be represented by an Australian ambassador, regardless of it being an International ad campaign.

Cant agree with you guys on this.
When left to source local talent, we end up with the likes of Jen Hawkins as an automatic response….as beautiful as she is, i just cant stand looking at her any more (and I’m a bloke!).
Is there an outcry in the US and Europe when Miranda Kerr gets gigs over local talent?

Hey Guys,
We work in the communications industry. JR – “you’re” means “you are”. and Tony “any more” is “anymore”. And just for the records I thunk Overseas talent is fin. Specially if ut’s Elvis Costello’s gran daughter. It’s attention grabbing and interesting … and she is HOT. Australia’s communication industry has more to worry about than what Aussie model gets selected … step up to the plate and start doing genuinely good work and the work stays here … OR maybe even some foreign stuff will come over here! Wow!!
