Bones helps Seven dominate over all-comers
Forensics-based American drama Bones continued its popular run last night to be one of Seven’s basket of shows which have led the network into dominance in the first weeks of the official 2013 TV ratings year.
The drama (with 922,000 capital city viewers according to OzTAM and first in its time slot) began at 8.45pm after MKR (1.9 million viewers) and knocked off Nine’s The Mentalist and Ten’s American Idol.
The early data showed Ten again ran fourth for the night with an 8.2 per cent share behind the ABC’s 12.9 per cent, highlighting the challenge ahead for new Ten boss and ex-adman Hamish McLennan.
American Idol averaged just 270,000 viewers, well behind Nine’s The Mentalist (655,000), Bones and the ABC’s relationship program Making Couples Happy (508,000).
Seven breakfast program Sunrise (387,000) pushed ahead of Nine’s Today (357,000).
Seven won last night with a 28.5 per cent share, to Nine’s 19.7 per cent, ABC1s 12.9 per cent, Ten’s 8.2 per cent and SBS One’s five per cent.
