Ben-Hur fails to take off on debut weekend, Bad Moms claims #1

Superhero movie Suicide Squad was finally knocked off the top of the weekend box office rankings as Bad Moms, on its third weekend showing, edged ahead by less than $30,000.

Ben-Hur trailed in fourth spot on its debut weekend, the historical blockbuster taking just $963, 660 over 316 screens. In comparison, Suicide Squad took almost $14m on debut.

Maintaining its solid performance, the DC Comics’ flick took $1.96m across 327 screens, but it was not enough to retain top spot, with Bad Moms taking $1.99m across 312 screens.
