Brisbane radio ratings: NOVA holds off a rocketing KIIS

KIIS973 has managed to leap an entire percentage point to come within 0.1% of NOVA106.9 during this radio survey, with Triple M and B105 also within striking distance of the top spot.

NOVA holds 11.9% of the market, up from 11.6%, while both KIIS and Triple M jumped one percentage each, to 11.8% and 11.4%, respectively.

B105 held steady with 11.1%, which saw the station fall to fourth place.

The battle for Breakfast is a fierce one, with B105’s Stav, Abby & Matt losing its crown to NOVA’s Ash, Luttsy & Susie, who commanded 12.8% market share, compared to B105’s 12.6%.

NOVA has also taken drive again, with Ricki-Lee, Tim & Joel drawing 13.5% of listeners.

KIIS 973’s Will and Woody are making big leaps, however, gaining a whopping 1.8% this survey, up to 13%. This follows a 1% jump to 11.2% in the last survey.

Interestingly, in AM-land, this will mark Ray Hadley’s final survey in the Brisbane market, as we saw him abruptly replaced with Bill McDonald recently on 4BC Mornings, as Nine pivots to a focus on local broadcasting. Hadley rose 0.4% in market share to capture 7.6% of the market.

He also now has a larger cumulative audience for his morning show than the preceding Breakfast show (102,000 compared with 101,000), which is uncommon. Breakfast saw its cumulative audience slip from 112,000 to 101,000, while Hadley jumped from 93,000 to 102,000.

Given the importance of cumulative audience to both station share and advertisers, Nine will be nervously watching Survey 7 to see the results of their local push.
