Burson Marsteller’s MD Brian West and director of corporate and public affairs Zoe Hibbert are both leaving the PR agency, Mumbrella can reveal.

West has been MD at BM for more than four years. Prior to that he was GM of government and media relations for Australian Rugby Union. Mumbrella understands that he will be moving to an Asia Pacific role.

Hibbert has been with BM, which is owned by WPP, for three years.

The new CEO of the agency will be Christine Jones, who joined the agency in July 2010 as regional MD of business development across Asia Pacific. She starts in the new role on March 1.after three years in-house at Roche Pharmaceuticals in Switzerland. Mumbrella understands that a number of senior PR people at other agencies were also approached.

Jones also worked for B-M in Singapore from 2004 to 2007.

She said: “I am excited to be taking over the reins at Burson-Marsteller Australia. It’s a challenging and vibrant market that has experienced high fragmentation over the last decade and an explosion of boutique firms. Despite these changes, Burson-Marsteller has remained a firm known for senior strategic counsel, crisis communications and brand positioning.”

Jones will report in to Asia Pacific president Bob Pickard. He said: “I am delighted that Christine will be leading our business in Australia through the next phase of its growth. She has an outstanding track record in building business and inspiring teams to succeed with her infectious energy and focus on results. She inherits a fine team and solid business from Brian West, whose dedication to the firm has been greatly appreciated. We wish Brian every success in the future.”

Other changes will see Steve Bowen joining as MD of corporate and public affairs to succeed Hibbert. Bowen is currently based in Singapore responsible for corporate and brand marketing for B-M clients.
