Business Spectator launches iPad app

Business news website Business Spectator has released an iPad app focusing on video interviews and commentary.

The announcement:

Business Spectator has this week launched its new iPad application, now available in the Apple store. The app, at launch, is free to consumers and focuses on video interviews with Australian business leaders and features commentary from the KGB team and a broad range of expert business and economics commentators.

Alan Kohler, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief said: “We took our time to develop an iPad app because we wanted to get it right and not just follow the pack. Our team has come up with a unique product that is different to the Business Spectator, but builds on its strengths.”

Nicholas Gray, General Manager & Publisher of Business Spectator said: “Whilst visits to the Business Spectator website peak in the morning and at lunchtime, our research shows iPad consumption spikes during primetime television viewing hours in the evening. We also know, from our CEO Pulse Survey in June, two thirds of CEO’s already own and use iPads. The Business Spectator iPad application presents the opportunity for our existing C-suite and professional audience to hear from the KGB primarily in the evening.”

Sam Granleese, Strategy Manager of First Digital Media, the publisher’s commercial arm, said: “Business Spectator’s iPad application was designed primarily for viewing our extensive series of business videos. The app complements, rather than replaces, the existing website experience which was originally designed for reading news and commentary. We think this will add value to our business audience, and so far the support from advertisers has been extremely positive.”

“The application was designed and developed in collaboration with Melbourne-based Native Digital and will feature several iOS5-based enhancements in the coming months.

“The app has been fully sold at launch with the launch partners including Emirates, Mercedes Benz, the Commonwealth Bank and CMC Markets. We thank these important partners for supporting the app at launch and for their ongoing support of the Business Spectator website”.
