The announcement:

Monday January 30, 2012 – Business Spectator launches new mobile website
Business Spectator has today launched a new mobile website, configured for all major smartphones. The site, at launch, is free to consumers and features commentary from the KGB team and a broad range of expert business and economics commentators, as well as offering news and videos.

Alan Kohler, Chairman & Editor-in-Chief said, “Whilst the board and shareholders conduct a strategic review of the business over the coming months, the executive team, myself included, do not intend to break stride in running Business Spectator and Eureka Report in the best interests of both our audience and advertisers.”

“It’s all systems go with implementing our organic strategy. We will continue to write the best business and investment commentary in Australia, launch new products such as this mobile site and deliver on all current and future advertising campaigns”.

Nicholas Gray, General Manager & Publisher of Business Spectator said “Our new mobile site is the latest release in an accelerating product development pipeline to meet the demands of a rapidly changing market. In the last quarter alone we have released our first ipad app, relaunched our marquee daily newsletters with Exact Target, and formed our own independent sales team (following the dissolution of First Digital) with an immediate 30% lift in sales coverage and a significantly upweighted campaign delivery team. The mobile site will be the first of many new announcements in 2012.”

“Smartphone traffic is now over 10% of our total traffic and growing rapidly. Our web traffic peaks three times a day: before the market opens (when the overnight global market news is paramount), at lunchtime with the KGB Dossier and following the Australian market close. These overlap strongly with commuting times for business leaders and investors. A simple, intuitive, visual mobile website is thus essential, and this is what we have now launched.”

“The mobile website was designed and developed in collaboration with Melbourne-based Global Mobile and will continue to be enhanced in the coming months.”
