“Levelling the Playing Field”

BuzzyTV Games, winner of the 2017 “Pitch the Future” contest setup by Vibewire startup hub in collaboration with Vivid Ideas, Adobe and Startsomegood.com, has launched a crowd-funding campaign to connect and support 10 special needs school units on their global schools games leaderboard.

BuzzyTV is on a mission to bring educational multiplayer games into schools to drive up social engagement and foster collaborative learning. Local multiplayer technology allows the Cloud service to deliver games straight to any screen, and for players to join immediately using any device as a controller. The leaderboard launch means that students collaborate and compete for their class and school, as well as learn to create and share their own original games content with other classrooms, making way for collective learning through a really fun medium.

BuzzyTV aims to make gameplay truly inclusive, and is collaborating for the campaign with Lusio Rehab, a company creating a wearable device that enables users to play real-time games as they complete a physical rehabilitation program. So far, Lusio has engaged people affected by Cerebral Palsy, and have used their device and games to stimulate the player and create movement in sync with the rehab program. The collaboration means that BuzzyTV is integrating with the Lusio device to enable multiplayer games for students in schools that have limited mobility, and deliver the same experience to all by creating an inclusive learning environment.

Their fundraising campaign aims to setup and support of 10 special needs units in schools on the leaderboard, with a financial stretch goal to continue R&D for seamless integration with Lusio Rehab, and trials of the device with students that have very limited mobility. In the future they hope to enable the integration for a growing number of games, making the experience even richer and more diverse.
