Cameron Williams resigns as sports presenter on Nine News
After almost 40 years in television, Cameron Williams is stepping away from his role as Nine News Sydney sports presenter, after being in the role since 2016.
Williams is resigning so he can focus on his health and to pursue other opportunities. An official replacement for Williams has yet to be announced.
In an email sent to staff, Williams said: “ It’s with a heavy heart I have decided to resign from Nine. Leaving the best team in News is difficult and being part of that team an honour.
“I have struggled for years with increasingly poor health and I want to address that now for the sake of a more important team, my family. I want to thank Wickie for making this process possible.”
Since joining the Nine Network, Williams has covered Nine’s horse racing coverage, compiled guest reports on 60 minutes and fronted the Vancouver Winter Olympics in 2010, as well as Nine’s coverage of the 2012 London Olympics. Cameron also reported on one of Australia’s biggest national disasters – the 2010 Queensland flood crisis alongside Today Show’s, Karl Stefanovic.
Born in Emerald, Queensland, Cameron’s journalism career began in 1984 with a cadetship at the Courier-Mail newspaper in Brisbane.
I want Jacqui felgate as a potential replacement for Cameron Williams please.
