Captain America: Civil War holds strong, Angry Birds premieres at number two in weekend box office

captain-america-civil-war-logoCaptain America: Civil War remains number one at the weekend box office, however, the Marvel comic book franchise film almost halved its earnings across the 481 screens, falling 37% to take $3.830m.

The movie has made almost $29m since its premiere in April.

Premiering strongly at number two at the box office was The Angry Birds Movie, derived from the popular game, which opened last Thursday to take $2.629m across 405 screens on its first weekend.

Bad Neighbours 2 moved to third place, drawing in $1.699m over the weekend, a 27% decline from the previous week.

The Jungle Book also experienced a 36% drop at the box office, taking $910,876 across 258 screens.

New Tina Fey/Margot Robbie movie Whiskey Tango Foxtrot premiered last Friday to take in $796,834 across 171 screens at the weekend box office.
