Captain Risky’s home tour ends in disaster in latest Budget Direct spot

Budget Direct’s Captain Risky gives a tour of his house on a motorbike which ends in disaster in the latest iteration of the ‘Get More’ campaign for the insurer.

screen-shot-2016-11-07-at-11-54-21-amThe new spot from 303MullenLowe is designed to highlight the brand’s highly rated home insurance claims service, opening with a woman using the claims app to report a tree falling through the roof of her house.

But with the voiceover warning ‘not everyone’s a Budget Direct customer’ it flips to Captain Risky who gives viewers a tour of his modest house on his motorbike, taking in his lounge, dining room and art collection, before he revs too hard as he goes up the stairs and out of a window.

Jonathan Kerr, director of marketing and digital at Budget Direct, said it highlight’s the usefulness of the app to customers by comparing “the calm of the Budget Direct customer with the chaos of Captain Risky’s behaviour”.

“Once again we are showing why we’ll never insure Captain Risky and how that helps us make sure our customers ‘get more with Budget Direct’,” he added.

Richard Morgan, executive creative director at 303MullenLowe, said: “For most Australians, their home is their castle. To Captain Risky, home is a high-octane playground.

“Giving people a peek into Risky’s home life seemed like a fun way of contrasting him to Budget Direct’s actual customers, who are the heroes of this campaign.”

The campaign launched on Sunday night and is now running across television, digital and social platforms.
