CarAdvice.com’s national sales director Benn Sykes joins Daily Mail Australia as sales lead

CarAdvice.com’s national sales director Benn Sykes will join Daily Mail Australia as the company’s first national sales director, the company has announced.

At the same time, Daily Mail has appointed Jessica Hunter, commercial manager at the publication, to the role of head of product, marketing and partnerships.

Sykes will commence his role later this month

Sykes has worked across a number of brands and publications, including The Australian, Business Spectator, The Australian Women’s Weekly and Rolling Stone.

Most recently he has worked for CarAdvice.com, managing revenue and growth and launching its brand content production arm, Chicane Studios.

Meanwhile, Hunter has been working with Daily Mail Australia since April 2014. She has worked across digital, print and experiential at Mi9 (now nine.com.au), News Corp and Bauer Media (formerly ACP).

Both Hunter and Sykes will commence their roles later this month and will report directly to managing director, Peter Holder.

Holder said the appointments formed part of a senior restructure. Mason Rook, former commercial director at Daily Mail Australia, was not replaced after his move to ARN late last year.

“Benn will be a great addition to what is already a dynamic commercial team. He has a determination to succeed that is infectious, a nurturing nature that will bring out the best in the team, and he is champing at the bit to get out there and sell.

“Jessica has been a brand champion for Daily Mail Australia virtually since we launched in this territory and her new role recognises her strengths in delivering a compelling market narrative, as well as continuing to build on and maintain key commercial partnerships.”

Hunter has been promoted as part of the restructure

Sykes said his new role a is “compelling opportunity.”

“I can’t wait to start. Aside from being an avid fan of the brand, Daily Mail Australia is such an interesting offering – first and foremost, it’s a news outlet, but you only have to look at the homepage to see it offers much more than that. Its suite of products, and the team that sells them, make this a compelling opportunity.”
