Carla Vella joins Shopper Media Group, leaving SCA to search for new head of radio sales Sydney

Southern Cross Austereo’s head of radio sales in its Sydney office, Carla Vella, has resigned to take up the role of Queensland sales director at Shopper Media Group.

After four years in the role, Vella is relocating to Queensland, leaving SCA to search for her replacement.

Vella started at the radio business in 2010 as group sales manager, before becoming Sydney’s agency sales director. After five years, she departed the company to become Sydney sales director at Ten, however was back at SCA after just three months in her new role.

Upon rejoining the company, Vella took on the Sydney head of radio sales position.

National head of radio sales, Nikki Rooke, thanked Vella for her work across a combined 10 years with the company.

“Carla has been a very popular member of the SCA sales team, both within the business, and externally,” she said.

“She has fostered great relationships with our clients and agencies, as well as within the team; she has a knack for making personal, meaningful connections.

“Carla has the kind of passion and fire that sets radio salespeople apart from the pack – her confident approach, a track record for delivering outstanding results and friendly demeanour will ensure she is a success at whatever she does. We wish her nothing but the best for this next chapter.”

In her new role, Vella will head up Shopper Media Group’s new Queensland office. She said her time at SCA was a “great honour”.

“I have been incredibly lucky to work in such a fantastic business and with people who are all committed to achieving top results and forming strong relationships with their clients,” she said.

“It has been a great honour to work with and lead such a passionate team – I look forward to watching them continue to grow.”

Jamie Hollebone, head of revenue at Shopper Media, said he is excited to see the company build on its aggressive growth and continue its expansion across the eastern seaboard with its new Brisbane office.

“Shopping centres and agencies are increasingly focused on digital retail OOH (out-of-home) advertising solutions. Shopper Media has an inventory that is 100% digital, and thanks to significant investment in technology we offer the best advancements in data analytics and consumer insights within the sector. We are firmly focused on driving that advantage within the Queensland market,” he said.

“Having Carla spearhead our office expansion in Queensland allows us to capitalise on our success to date, further strengthening our position in the market.”

“With access to such rich data offerings I’m excited by our ability to deliver highly relevant and contextual campaigns to our agency partners and clients, and driving revenue growth in the Queensland market,” she said.
