Carnival Cruises Australia makes senior promotions, VP leaves to start new brand

Carnival Cruise Line Australia has made promoted two senior staff including Anton Loeb as senior director, sales and marketing, and Kara Glamore to vice president.

Glamore is taking over from vice president and GM Jennifer Vandekreeke, who is leaving Carnival to start up a new travel brand yet to be revealed.

Loeb was a founding member of the Carnival team, being with the company for nine years as director of sales. He will now lead the Carnival’s communications, in what is a newly created role.

Anton Loeb

The vice president role sees Glamore responsible for driving the strategic vision and overall performance for Carnival Cruise Lines Australian operations by maximising financial performance, guest satisfaction and leading the commercial team.

Carnival said that Loeb has “built the sales team to what it is today”, over his nine years growing Carnival’s trade presence, engagement, and trust “to the highest levels with his straightforward approach, deep passion for his team and trade partners and unique ability to make anything fun”.

The role will see Loeb responsible for driving demand for Carnival Cruise Line in Australia and New Zealand through the strategic management of above the line marketing, retail and promotional planning, social media and the trade channel.

Glamore said that she was honoured to be taking on the new role.

“There is much to look forward to once we resume cruising within Australia. Aussies will have more opportunities to explore their beautiful backyard by sea than ever before, and Queenslanders will be able to enjoy the fun of a Carnival Cruise without leaving the state as Carnival Spirit moves to her new Brisbane homeport.”

On her departure, Vandekreeke said: “After three fun-filled years of waterslides, cucumber sunrises and the occasional sing-along with Music Manila, I will be leaving the Carnival team in July to take on a fresh challenge, building a new travel brand.”

Glamore joined Carnival in 2019 from Stayz where she was head of consumer marketing APAC, and having previously worked in roles for brands including Kraft, Nestlé and Expedia.

She said: “I’m beyond excited to continue working with our incredible partners in this new role – they will be instrumental in welcoming cruising back into Australia.”

On the promotions, Vandekreeke said: “I’ve had the pleasure of working alongside both Kara and Anton for a number of years and Carnival could not be in better hands to usher in our return to service. Kara and Anton truly embody Carnival’s core values and I can’t wait to see what they bring to the business”.
