Carrie Bickmore, Amanda Keller & Erin Molan among Radio Alive 2017 sessions

Commercial Radio Australia has unveiled more sessions for this year’s Radio Alive 2017 conference.

The announcement:

Women in Media Powerhouse; Trust, Transparency & Brand Safety, plus Real News in a World of Fake Factsare the three key sessions announced today by Commercial Radio Australia for this year’s Radio Alive 2017 conference, featuring high profile speakers from across media, advertising and publishing.

The Women in Media Powerhouse session will see high profile radio presenters: Carrie Bickmore (Hit Network), Susie O’Neill (Nova Entertainment), Amanda Keller (WSFM) and Erin Molan (2GB) offer new perspectives on the challenges facing women in media.  The session will look at how women in the media build and maintain their profiles and translate their brands across sectors.

Author, social commentator and advertising expert, Jane Caro will moderate the Trust, Transparency & Brand Safety panel that will explore the complexities of brand transparency and safety across online, TV and radio. The panel will include Peter Horgan, chief executive officer of Omnicon Media Group Australia and New Zealand; Andrew Knott, chief marketing officer at National Australia Bank; Jason Scott, chief executive officer, Allure Media; Stuart Bailey, chief digital officer, PHD Media and Geraldine Davys, iSelect chief marketing officer.

The session Real News in a World of Fake Facts brings together news curators from radio, TV, newspapers and online to discuss how media can maintain credibility and integrity in the 24 hour news cycle and its role as the trusted source of news. The session will look at how media outlets retain influence or set the 24 hour news cycle agenda.  Moderated by founder and content director of Mumbrella, Tim Burrowes, this highly topical session will include; Channel 7 Sydney director of news Jason Morrison, Australian Radio Network news director Deborah Clay, The Age news director, Michelle Griffin, Huffington Post Editor, Chris Paine, and Alan Sunderland, ABC’s head of editorial policy.

Radio Alive 2017 will be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre on Friday, 13 October and will incorporate the first RAIN Summit in Australia – a three-hour stream featuring expert speakers exploring podcasting, streaming, and other aspects of digital audio.

The commercial radio industry will use the conference as a platform to launch its new brand identity and marketing campaign, Radio Alive, which aims to reset perceptions about radio as a dynamic, multiplatform medium.  It will also include the Radio Alive 2017 Q&A session hosted by Virginia Trioli with guests to include Communications Minister, Senator the Hon Mitch Fifield and ABC managing director Michelle Guthrie.
