CBA appoints Rebecca Darley as GM of marketing and strategy for CommSec
Westpac Group’s head of marketing, strategy and planning for St George Bank, Rebecca Darley, has left to join the Commonwealth Bank’s CommSec.
The senior marketer – who has also been marketing director at Ikea and head of consumer communications at Vodafone Australia – will be CommSec’s general manager of marketing and strategy.
In her newly-created role, she will report to CommSec’s CEO Richard Burns.
Darley she can’t wait to work alongside the diverse and talented team.
“I’m thrilled to be joining such an incredible business with such a strong market position and extraordinary market share,” she said in a statement to Mumbrella.
“I’ve always been a vocal advocate for marketing’s role as a strategic business partner and this is a rare opportunity to demonstrate the value in aligning marketing and business strategy. It’s testament to the thought leadership of the senior executive”.
Darley is the third senior marketing executive to depart the Westpac Group in recent months, with head of advertising, Sam Viney, joining Amart Furniture as general manager of customer in July after just six months in the role, and head of group media, sales and digital tech, Toby Dewar, departing the same month to join MCN (now Foxtel Media) as customer engagement director.
Westpac Group has been approached for comment.
Congrats Bec! One of the smartest people in the game.
