CCO Ben Coulson departs Clemenger BBDO Sydney with Brendan Willenberg and Darren Wright becoming joint ECDs
Clemenger BBDO Sydney chief creative officer, Ben Coulson, is departing the agency after three years in the role. In his stead, creative directors Brendan Willenberg and Darren Wright have been promoted to joint executive creative directors.
CEO of Clemenger BBDO Sydney, Pete Bosilkovski, said that the agency was on a “journey of considered business transformation”, which led to the shake up.
“The Sydney office is on a journey of considered business transformation, and as part of this we have made the decision to change our creative leadership. We would like to thank Ben for his contribution and talent over the years and we wish him every success in his future endeavours,” Bosilkovski said.
“During the past year, Brendan and Darren have demonstrated unrelenting commitment and leadership in helping drive the Sydney business. They have been instrumental in leading the creative output across our client portfolio. We are delighted for them and we know our creative leadership is in exceptionally safe hands.”
Coulson joined the agency in 2017 after six years as chief creative officer of Y&R for Australia and New Zealand and five years as its executive creative director.
At the time of his appointment at Clemenger, he said that the BBDO network was the best in the world.
“I couldn’t be more excited to be joining what I believe is the world’s best agency network, BBDO,” Coulson said.
“Clemenger and Colenso are the creative heavyweights in our region and I look forward to furthering that success.”
Willenberg has been creative director at Clemenger BBDO Sydney for the past eight years. He joined from McCann where he was a senior copywriter.
Wright joined the agency as creative director in 2017 after four-and-a-half years at Grey London. He previously worked at Wieden + Kennedy.
