Mangan is searching for Australia’s biggest ‘foodie’

Restaurateur Luke Mangan, in partnership with Tourism Australia, P&O Cruises and Virgin Australia, is hunting for the biggest ‘foodie’ to mark his professional milestone of becoming an Australian chef having dishes served on land, at sea, in the air and now on rail.

The campaign, created by PR agency Poem, is searching for a Culinary Experience Officer, with finalists in the competition having the chance to work with Mangan across his international businesses and brand partnerships, including P&O Cruises, Virgin Australia and the Eastern and Oriental Express.

The winner will join Mangan on the inaugural journey on board the Eastern and Oriental Express and will have the opportunity to develop content and report on Mangan’s restaurant portfolio.

Mangan has partnered with Tourism Australia to hunt for Australia’s best bartender; P&C Cruises to find Australia’s best home cook; and, Virgin Australia to discover the finest artisan food producer.

The final three candidates will be judged in September by Mangan, representatives from Tourism Australia, Virgin Australia, P&O, Hilton Hotels and Time Out Restaurant Editor Freya Herring, before the Culinary Experience Officer winner is announced.

Luke Mangan said, in a statement: “Myself and the team are in a unique position to showcase our country’s amazing produce and ingredients to tens of thousands of people that experience my restaurants, Virgin Australia flights, P&O cruises, Hilton Hotels, Tourism Australia events, and now Eastern and Oriental Express trains.

“With our business firmly based on relationships, this is truly an incredible opportunity for someone who wants to firmly mark their position within the food and wine sphere whilst having access to a group of premium brand partners who we are fortunate to work with on a daily basis.”

Entries into the contest can be submitted from now until midnight on April 15, at lukemangan.com/CEO.
