Chris Ernst appointed to lead Dentsu Aegis Network in Queensland after six months at Media Merchants

Chris Ernst has joined Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) as Queensland’s managing director following six months in the role of commercial director at Media Merchants.

DAN said Ernst, who begins in the role today, will be responsible for the “commercial growth and integration of the market” and “showcasing DAN’s unique capabilities and offering”.

Ernst was previously managing director at Ikon Communications.

“Chris is an outstanding commercial operator and team leader, with a proven track record for developing client, employee and stakeholder relationships. He’s the perfect person for this critical leadership role and will take the Queensland business from strength to strength,” said DAN’s ANZ CEO Henry Tajer.

A former Ikon MD, Ernst added: “I’m excited to join such a talented group of people, to develop and showcase DAN’s unique offering in the Queensland market. I can’t wait to get to know the team and our clients, and look forward to working with both to deliver success in the future.”

Since Tajer was appointed to the CEO role in January, a number of high-level operators have departed, including multiple redundancies, while executives such as Sue Squillace (CEO of media agency Carat) and Michael Bass (chief investment officer of Amplifi) have joined to lead the restructured holding group.

DAN’s clients include Disney, Woolworths and United Airlines.
