The announcement:

Entries open today for the 2017 Citi Journalism Awards for Excellence, a program recognising the best of business and finance reporting around the world. If you would like to submit an entry, click here for the entry form. Entries close 5pm on Monday, 6 February 2017.

Citi welcomes submissions from journalists with Australian and New Zealand media outlets, or from those based here but working for offshore media outlets. Stories must have been published or broadcast in 2016.

Entries are invited across four categories:

  • Broadcast,
  • General business,
  • Markets and investment, and
  • The economy.

The journalist who is judged by a panel to have produced the best work of the four category winners will win an exclusive study tour hosted by Columbia University in New York from May 30 to June 8, 2017. Citi does not sit on the judging panel.

Many previous winners consider the study tour to be a career enhancing experience, participating in sessions with leading Columbia University faculty members, engaging in discussions with senior academics, journalists, bankers and policy-makers, and visiting institutions such as the New York Stock Exchange, the World Bank, the IMF and the Federal Reserve Bank.

We look forward to again receiving some outstanding entries.
