Clemenger BBDO Australia cleans up at Effie Awards

Clemenger BBDO was awarded Agency of the Year at the Asia Pacific region’s Effie Awards last night.

Owned by holding group Omnicom, the agency scooped up a total of 12 awards at the ceremony hosted at the Four Seasons Hotel in Singapore.

Other awards won by the agency include Gold Effies for: ‘The Massive Hit’ for Frucor Beverages‘ V in the beverages non-alcoholic category; ‘The Boys’ campaign for Pacific Brands in the retail  and social media marketing categories; ‘Snickers HUNGERITHM’ for Mars Australia in the branded content category; and ‘Meet Graham’ for the Transport Accident Commission in the media innovation category and ‘The Boys’ in the social media marketing category.

Clemenger BBDO, the only Australian agency to take home golds, also went on to win two Silver and five Bronze Effies.

Other Australian agencies to take home a Silver Effie Award were: Meerkats, Affinity, The Monkeys and Grey.

TBWA Melbourne, Grey and BMF took home three Bronze Effies each, while The Monkeys, Affinity, Pulse Communications, McCann, Leo Burnett Melbourne, Ogilvy & Mather Group all took home one Bronze.

Awards chairman, Anthony Wong said: “At the Effies, we recognise in particular great ideas that work in tomorrow’s world. Work that has achieved exceptional results by having effective media strategies that augment the brilliant ideas. Work that leads the transformation of business and communication. Work that shines the light on the next chapter of how content and technology collide to make brands matter more than ever. With the bar raised higher year on year, it is a lot more competitive and harder to bring home an Effie now than before. The winners tonight showcase the best work to represent the whole of Asia Pacific.”

The awards are organised by the Confederation of Asian Advertising Agency Associations (CAAAA) and Tenasia Group and aim to recognise “ideas that work”.
