Clemenger Group appoints new head of people and culture

Clemenger Group, part of Omnicom, has appointed Raj Tapper as its new head of people and culture.

Tapper joins after most recently holding the role of general manager, people and culture at Cricket Australia.

She has also held similar roles at Sportsbet, where she was head of organisational development, head of HR, culture and strategy at Coles, and HR consultant at ANZ.

Clemenger Group called Tapper a “dynamic and seasoned leader” with an “extensive background in people and culture, strategy, cultural transformation and integrating business and people needs across different geographies and business sectors”.

Executive chairman of Clemenger Group, Robert Morgan said that he is delighted for Tapper, as she has also been appointed to the Clemenger Group Board.

“She brings a fresh perspective and joins us at an important time as we make significant changes regarding workplace flexibility, returning to the workplace, diversity and inclusion, as well as sustainability.”

Morgan is due to step down as CEO of Clemenger Group at the close of the year, with the group selecting Les Timar as his replacement, set to take over on 1 January 2022. Morgan will remain as chairman of Clemenger Group however, after handing over the CEO role that he has held for 23 years.

Tapper said: “I am truly honoured to be appointed as the head of people and culture for Australasia’s large and successful marketing communication company and I look forward to building on what Clemenger Group has already accomplished over more than 75 years.”

The Group said that within her first month. Tapper has led the company’s new approach to flexibility, “which is centered around employees having choice, control and maximising opportunities”

She continued: “Work is what you do when you’re working, not where you’re working. Clemenger Group’s new approach to flexibility will enable our people to manage their personal commitments and enjoy their lives outside of work, while delivering on their professional commitments.”

Clemenger clarified after the story was published that this is a newly created role.
