Coca-Cola launches its own font
Coca-Cola has joined the likes of IBM, creating its own font for the first time in its history.
Announced by James Sommerville, vice president of design at Coca-Cola, the new font will be known as TCCC Unity.
Sommerville’s Instagram post reads: “Geometric flair and circularity drawn from the archive form the basis of the Latin script; a large x height ensures it works in physical and digital environments.”
Sommerville said TCCC Unity “encapsulates elements from Coca-Cola’s past and its American Modernist heritage”.
The post shows a variety of different versions of the font, including bold and italicised versions of TCCC-Unity.
Looks like they’ve just mashed together Hurme and AG Book? Oh well. Still better than when Coles took Haptic Pro and pretended they’d created it from scratch, I guess.
