Coles hires Lisa Hudson as editor of catalogue replacement Coles&co

Coles has hired Qantas Wine’s Lisa Hudson as editor of its new digital content platform.

Coles&co launched last week as Coles announced it would no longer be delivering catalogues to mailboxes, introducing the digital platform as a replacement.

Up until July, Hudson was the head of Qantas Wine, the airline’s food and wine club. She previously spent 18 years with Fairfax Media (now part of Nine) working across the newspapers’ number of lifestyle titles, such as Good Weekend, Sunday Life and the Good Food Guide. She left in 2013 as the general manager of food and wine.

Lisa Hudson joins Coles&co after an extensive career in food and wine publishing

Hudson’s role as the editor of Coles&co will see her draw together content from Coles’ assets including the Coles Magazine and What’s for Dinner Live, recipes from Coles’ ambassadors and partners, such as Curtis Stone and the AFL, and oversee the creation of new content featuring local suppliers and current food trends.

Coles&co will also offer personalised specials information based on the location and purchasing history of the customer.

Hudson said: “I am passionate about delivering an exceptional customer experience and celebrating everything that our food and wine industry has to offer. Coles&co is a really exciting platform to highlight the amazing work of Australian chefs and local food and beverage producers. To be in a position to inform Australians about how they can live healthier and happier lives is a real privilege. Coles has some incredible partnerships and I can’t wait to work with the team.”

Coles CMO Lisa Ronson said Coles&co will lead the market on customer engagement with Hudson at the helm.

“We are thrilled to be bringing Lisa on board to help launch Coles&co and create a really compelling platform to engage with our customers on what is happening in the food and drink industry whether that be in our stores, on the farm with local food producers or with our Own Brand development chefs in our Coles kitchens,” she said.

“Customers are cooking from home more than ever and they want to get great value and explore new things – with Coles&co Lisa will be able to guide them through the latest trends and really open up the possibilities for the home cook.”

“The Coles magazine is already the most read magazine in Australia, and Coles radio is the most listened to digital radio station. Our Instagram, Facebook and Youtube channels are some of the most popular in the country with regular exclusive recipes from amazing chefs like Curtis Stone. Coles&co is about boosting what we have to offer customers. We want to provide great value and useful food and drink solutions in the most personalised, timely and relevant ways,” Ronson concluded.

Hudson begins her role on 24 August.
